What this means: You have more cards or tasks entering that phase than ones that are being completed and leaving that phase. Here’s what it might look like when the bands on your cumulative flow diagram expand and widen together: Take this as a sign that your team has more capacity at that stage than you thought, meaning you can reduce your team capacity in that phase and allocate it elsewhere. What this means: Your throughput (remember, that’s the amount of work your team is completing and delivering) is significantly higher than the number of tasks entering your workflow. Here’s what it can look like when the bands on your cumulative flow diagram suddenly narrow and come closer together: Instead, you could see one of the following scenarios: Narrowing of your bands However, maybe your graph isn’t quite so smooth. Your team is working like a well-oiled machine. This means that new tasks are coming into your workflow at about the same pace as tasks are being completed. Keep in mind that what you want to see is all of the bands rising together somewhat smoothly (like what our example above showed). So, let’s talk about how you can effectively interpret what’s being shown on your diagram. ![]() But, knowing how to read a cumulative flow diagram can take a little bit of practice. They’re a great way to go beyond your Kanban board with a visual representation.

Comfortable with his association with "Rocky Horror" later in his career, Curry stood far above his British compatriots as being one of that country's most intriguing and talented exports. On the screen, he largely played the villain in "The Three Musketeers" (1993), "Charlie's Angels" (2000) and to some extent "Kinsey" (2004). In the 1990s, Curry put his pliant voice to good use in a number of animated projects, which became something of a second career for the actor. He later played the butler Wadsworth in the board game-turned-movie "Clue" (1985), then delivered a deliciously scary turn as the murderous circus clown Pennywise in "Stephen King's It" (ABC, 1990). Curry managed to chip away at the narrow perception of him with a wide range of performances, playing the title role in the stage production of "Amadeus" (1980) and the cartoonishly evil Rooster in the film version of "Annie" (1982). Though moviegoers across several generations associated him with his memorable debut role as the campy transvestite Doctor Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (1975), actor Tim Curry struggled throughout his career to live down the role that made him famous. ![]() This is the learning tool every teacher hopes to find-one that is both fun and educational." As an introduction to the world of smart telescoping the Vespera is hard to beat. See our full Vaonis Vespera review (opens in new tab). It doesn’t need focusing nor collimation. It gets wonderful images from cities – even without the light pollution filter – and it’s possible to export them as raw TIFF and FITS files for post-processing (though only via WiFi and a browser). The Vespera is also relatively low resolution, with its two megapixel images among the softest of any smart telescope and it can’t be used for planets or the moon. Its battery lasts just four hours, which is a shame, but can be topped-up using any portable smartphone battery. The first thing that needs upgrading is its tripod, which is a tiny tabletop affair, though it can be mounted on any photographic tripod. It’s possible to add an excellent backpack, a light pollution filter, a dual-band filter (for better capturing faint nebulae), a solar filter, and even a hygrometer sensor for humidity data. There’s no eyepiece, but everything else is an optional add-on. The Vaonis Vespera is the most basic smart telescope around. Since it’s a reflector telescope it will occasionally need collimating (opens in new tab). Instead it comes with a Bahtinov mask built into its lens cap that helps get stars really sharp, though it’s a manual process. Its lack of an eyepiece makes sense from a cost-saving perspective – and it adds two hours of battery life – but it does make it more difficult to focus the eQuinox. The eQuinox has slightly less resolving power than the eVscope 2 (which makes it more difficult to split close double stars), a tighter field of view, less detailed images (its natively 1.2 megapixel images are up-rezzed to 4.8 megapixels using software interpolation) and no electronic eyepiece. That’s identical to the eVscope and eVscope 2, but eQuinox is different. ![]() It allows up to 10 smartphones and tablets to connect to its own WiFi network to see and download its images. ![]() So it’s super-easy to use. Read our full Vaonis Stellina review (opens in new tab).Īt its core it’s a 4.5-inch reflector telescope fitted with a Sony IMX224 CMOS image sensor to power its Enhanced Vision (EV) views of galaxies, nebulae, open clusters and globular clusters. Unlike Unistellar’s products this telescope has autofocus and, as a refractor telescope, doesn’t need collimation. It’s also possible to export raw TIFF and FITS image files for post-processing to a computer just by attaching a USB-C cable. Up to 20 smartphones or tablets with the Singularity app can hook-up to its WiFI and watch its incredible images come down. Where Stellina does beat all other smart telescopes is with its connectivity. A backpack is also available as an add-on.Īt 6.4 megapixels its detail isn’t quite up there with the Unistellar eVscope 2, but it’s very close. Another slightly odd exclusion is a built-in battery, with the Stellina instead depending on an external 10,000 mAh power bank (opens in new tab) that needs to be cabled-up. To get some height, a full-size photographic tripod (opens in new tab) is required. It ships with a small Gitzo tripod that’s really only good enough for wide-open spaces or tabletops. The smart telescope that started it all remains one of the best, but there are caveats. Let's look at the best smart telescopes you can get right now. Far pricier than optical telescopes of similar quality, they nevertheless offer unrivaled convenience and many unique features. What these first-generation smart telescopes have in common are their astronomical prices. However, what makes the best smart telescopes so addictive is that they also take incredible images of all kinds of objects in the night sky. They use AI to align themselves with the night sky, providing apps that make it easy to ‘go to’ any object you want at the touch of a button. Not to be confused with the best computerized telescopes (opens in new tab), smart telescopes are motorized and come equipped with both artificial intelligence (AI) and camera sensors. ![]() They also use cutting-edge astrophotography techniques, to locate faint objects in the night sky and then take long exposure images of them, merging one on top of the other to remove noise, battle the problem of light pollution and improve the image quality. Unlike some of the best telescopes for astrophotography (opens in new tab), smart telescopes are easy for beginners to use. ![]() Select the TensorFlow recommended runtime (TensorFlow 2.9.1 at the time of writing). I think there could be a benefit to a much more monstrous kind of sound happening when the screen goes black and the shots start. I don't think it needs to be much, just a nod here or there, maybe even just a single snort as she passes close, panned off on the left or something. My heart wanted to hear a horse snorting at some point, we see a lot of horse snouts, but i never got a strong sensation that there were horses from the sound design. Do you have a professional library of sound effects that you are using? In any case it felt immersive, and the mix was great too. But I've caught a bit of a bug so I don't think I'll be able to do much more this month.įirst off incredible foley work, it felt 100% real, the barn doors, footsteps in the grass, creaking of the lantern. Perhaps some filtering of some kind.Īnother though is that, to help that process, perhaps there could be louder sounds outside - wind, distant sounds of a homestead or a horse whinnying, that can then become muted (rolling off the highs, reducing the volume) once she goes inside.ĭarn (tootin'), I wish I was entering this contest. Other than the slight concern that the audio made it sound like she was killing at least one cat, I love the sound design here. Not western, exactly, but western adjacent - a bit of Sergio Leone, a bit of that jazz guitarist that works with Tom Waits sometimes. Other than to say that the guitar style is great. Sorry, I'm sure there is better advice to be had but this is all that I can put together right now. Dynamics are good although a lot of trailers stick to the quiet, LOUD, quiet approach - you don't have to be that crude about it! but in this case the dips in volume seemed more accidental than intentional and with purpose. There were some fluctuations in volume, especially towards the end. It might sound bigger on speakers with better bass response, but I think for a mix that will translate to lots of devices that might be used to watch a trailer needs the bass to be strong a little higher in the frequency spectrum as well as at the bottom. The bass seemed a little weak on my laptop's speakers. ![]() Perhaps a jangly piano, a bit of banjo or acoustic guitar could float to the surface early on. I thought that early on, some of the western-like elements of the music seemed a little buried. It is usual to have key sounds or musical moments making the visual action seem more powerful and striking. Otherwise, there is surprisingly little punctuation of key moments in the video for what is a trailer. Elsewhere, there is what sounds like a very deep snare that imitates bullets. I love this music and it matches the tone of the images nicely. ![]() Anyway, that's just my 2 cents, if any of that is helpful to you then great, and in any case good luck in the contest! And honestly (this is just my preference) but I wanted MORE guitar, especially ramping into the ending. Things were shifting and changing yes, but maybe not enough? The guitar sounded very quantized (did you quantize it to a grid?) Playing with the performance might be good if you can get it to sound more organic, played in rather than programmed in. Then later the guitar comes in and that was very satisfying so maybe that could have come in a bit sooner? The first half felt a bit static to me. I think there is just a disconnect between the shots in the video and the places the sound/music goes, I didn't get the feeling that they were working "together" beyond the point that the mood was getting set (and the mood was good!). I liked the unnerving sound design vibe that you open with, felt very atonal and edgy. I'm a beginner, so I barely know what I am doing anyway, and that is probably even being generous. I took a listen through yours and I do have some comments but please take all this with a grain of salt (actually a small mountain of salt is likely more appropriate). Thanks for starting the thread on here I hadn't realized there wasn't one yet! I finished my entry a little while back, hopefully it's entered correctly!
